와이오밍 주의 공화당 원내 3당 지도자인 리즈 체니는 오늘 성명을 통해 트럼프 대통령이 “폭도들을 불러모아 폭도들을 집결시키고 이번 공격의 불을 붙였다”고 말했다. 그녀는 “미국 대통령이 자신이 맹세한 직책과 헌법에 대해 이렇게 큰 배신을 한 적은 일찌기 없었다”고 성명을 통해 말했다.

그녀는 성명서를 통해 “2021년 1월 6일, 폭도들이 미국 의사당을 공격하여 민주주의 과정을 방해하고 대통령 선거투표의 개표를 중단시켰다. 이 반란은 우리 공화국에서 가장 신성해야할 장소에 부상과 사망, 그리고 파괴가 초래되는 결과를 가져왔다. 앞으로 수일, 수 주일이 지나면 모든것이 훨씬 더 분명하게 드러나겠지만, 지금 우리가 알고 있는 것만으로도 충분하다”고 말했다.

그러면서 그녀는 “미국 대통령은 이 폭도들을 불러모아 집결시켰고, 이번 의사당 공격에 불을 붙였다. 모든 것은 그의 행동에 따른 결과였다. 대통령이 없었더라면 이런 일은 일어나지 않았을 것이다. 대통령은 폭력을 막기위해 즉각적이고 강력한 조치를 취할 수도 있었다. 그러나 그는 그렇게 하지 않았다. 미국 대통령이 자신이 맹세한 직책과 헌법에 대해 이렇게 큰 배신을 한 적은 일찌기 없었다. 나는 대통령 탄핵안 가결에 투표를 할 것이다”고 덧붙였다.

On January 6, 2021 a violent mob attacked the United States Capitol to obstruct the process of our democracy and stop the counting of presidential electoral votes. This insurrection caused injury, death and destruction in the most sacred space in our Republic. Much more will become clear in coming days and weeks, but what we know now is enough. The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack.

Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution. I will vote to impeach the President.
